Adding a collection - DRAFT

For a consistent look and feel for your institution's collections, a template can be created that makes it possible to easily reproduce institutional customizations.

To request a new collection for your institution, complete the KDL Add Collection Request Form. A KDL administrator will notify you when the collection has been added. Once you have been notified, follow these steps to add the collection to @Your Institution's Digital Collections master page.

Add collection to institutional listing
  • From the items tab, choose @Your Institution's Digital Collection from the Current collection dropdown, and click change
  • Click add.
  • Paste copied directory name (above) into add URL field. Remove any blank spaces.
  • Add metadata.
    • Title - from request form
    • Description - from request form
    • Institution - from request form
    • Date -
    • Type -
  • Select thumbnail using link or image from request form.
  • add.
Index @Your Institution's Digital Collections
  • From the item tab menu, select index.
  • Click index now.
  • Set recurrence for scheduled indexing.

Verify add request
Add collection
  • Log in at CONTENTdm Admin.
  • From the server tab, select collections, then add collection.
  • Select template as specified on request form.
  • Enter collection name as specified on request form.
  • Save new collection.
  • On collections list, click configure for new collection, then edit.

Set permissions
  • From the server tab menu, select users.
  • Edit the username from the request form.
  • Highlight newly added collection.
  • Assign rights, and save changes.

Batchloading

Batchloading content is done using the CONTENTdm project client, which can be downloaded at www.kyvl.org/client. Each participating institution will be allowed one instance of the project client. A license key will be available from KYVL.
