About MetaLib

MetaLib is a discovery tool that allows the user to access all KYVL’s resources from a single interface. Users can now search across multiple resources simultaneously, view and sort combined results within a single list, and complete the process with links to full-text articles. The MetaLib interface can accommodate varied research styles and levels of expertise by offering diverse options for searching, sorting and retrieving materials.

MetaLib will be replacing KYVL’s old search interface currently accessed via the “Find Books, Articles and More” link on the KYVL homepage. As of January 19, 2009, the “Find Books, Articles and More” link will take users to a MetaLib-oriented resources page. As of February 24, 2009, the Middle and High School students links on the KYVL for K12 page will take users to MetaLib-oriented resources pages customized for those user groups.

Accessing MetaLib

Users will be able to access MetaLib the same way they access KYVL’s former search interface. When inside or on the property of their home library, users will authenticate via the library’s IP address. When accessing KYVL from home, users will need their KYVL username and password. If you or your patrons  experience any problems accessing the MetaLib search interface, please contact Betsy Hughes at betsy.hughes@ky.gov
