A scheduled biennial review of the KYVL Collection Development Policy took place during the the 2023-24 fiscal year.

KYVL supports the use and development of open content.
Requests for reconsideration of KYVL-licensed items follow procedures outlined in the KYVL reconsideration policy, currently under development. Requests for reconsideration may be submitted to KYVL only by a member organization and only after all local reconsideration procedures have been followed. An individual wishing to request reconsideration will be referred to the member institution.
To address cost/benefit inequities of core resources among members or member constituencies, KYVL may, in exceptional cases, limit access to and / or assess institutional surcharges for select resources which otherwise fall under the core resources funding model.
Modified core was first applied to KYVL's OCLC FirstSearch subscription in the F2023-24 fiscal year. For the F2024-25 fiscal year, it will also be applied to KYVL's APA PsycInfo subscription. Selection criteria and named subscribers for inclusion in these subscriptions for the upcoming year follow.
Full text for hundreds of psychology journals is available to all KYVL members through EBSCO's Academic Search Complete and Psychology and Behavioral Sciences collections.
The indexing and abstracting available through APA PsycInfo targets academic researchers and health professionals. KYVL has identified a subset of member institutions representing 95 percent of current KYVL usage for continued access. Cost savings will offset cost increases for all KYVL users.

KYVL members with an institutional subscription to an OCLC cataloging product or holdings registration are eligible for a subscription to FirstSearch or WorldCat Visibility depending on demonstrated usage. Major changes were implemented in F23-24 with only incremental changes for F24-25. Please note that starting in F25, KYVL itself will no longer have a FirstSearch subscription. If this creates issues for your cataloging workflow, please let us know and we will try to assist in recommending workarounds.
