Courier Service

About the courier service

KYVL's ground courier service serves as a cost-effective system for making the collections of Kentucky libraries available across Kentucky, complementing electronic availability KYVL's electronic databases. KYVL member libraries that participate in resource sharing through the courier service include:

  • Kentucky university libraries, including the libraries of KCTCS institutions
  • Kentucky public libraries
  • The Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives
  • Some private college libraries and special libraries.

The courier service is used for sending and receiving interlibrary loans that have been officially processed by a participating library's interlibrary loan department. Items that may be shipped via the courier include both items that must be returned (books, sound recordings, videos, e.g.) and items that may be retained by the recipient (photocopies, e.g.).

The KYVL courier service is paid for primarily with state funds.
