Kentucky Virtual Library courier service facilitates cost-effective resource sharing among Kentucky libraries within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Shared materials serve as a complement to KYVL's electronic databases.
The courier service is used for sending and receiving interlibrary loans, including programming materials from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Items transported include returnable items, such as books, book kits and videos, as well as items that may be retained by the recipient, such as photocopies.
A master agreement between the Council on Postsecondary Education and Stat Courier of St. Louis, MO, governs KYVL courier service. Funding is provided through the Council on Postsecondary Education, with support from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives and participating KYVL member institutions.
