KYVL for all! Access extended to all Kentucky schools and public libraries

by Enid Wohlstein on 2020-03-18T08:20:08-04:00 in *Database updates, *Logins/passwords | Comments

Greetings from the Kentucky Virtual Library.

At a time when access to resources is limited due to widespread closures, KYVL research databases are being made available to all Kentucky school districts and public libraries through the end of the school year. Private schools may also request access.

Over half a million Kentucky public school students already benefit from access to KYVL's research databases for all ages. Courtesy access will make these resources available to an additional 147,000 Kentucky students. Access has also been extended to seven Kentucky public libraries previously without access.

To use KYVL resources:

  • Go to KYVL.org, choose the padlock in the upper righthand corner.  Click Request Password.  Fill out the form with your school or library email [we cannot verify Gmail, Yahoo, etc. accounts].  The login will be emailed to you.
  • Select a database you wish to search at kyvl.org/databases. You can also use the search box at the top of the page.
  • When prompted, log in using a KYVL username and password.
    • Students and teachers can have a username and password sent to their inbox by clicking "Request password" and completing the form using their school email address.
    • Public library users will need to contact their local public library to obtain access. Those unable to make contact by phone are encouraged to request access by email, and should include a local phone number so that local residency can be confirmed.

Please share this news with your colleagues. We hope access to these resources will help meet a need created by the extraordinary circumstances in which we find ourselves.

The Kentucky Virtual Library is a program of the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education in partnership with 300 member libraries and the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives.

On behalf of KYVL,
Ilona
